Bite the Big Apple!

Updated: Jul 4

We stopped for a bite of the Big Apple on our way to the Holy Land!

Sheraton Hotel & Ferry. We stayed across the Hudson and ferried to 39th or the NJ bus to Port Authority in Manhattan. The ferry bus, no additional cost, drops off at or near point your place of interest. To return check the ferry app for the nearest stop.

Macy's, Herald Square & Empire State Building. After a late morning start lunched at Ben's Deli and on to Macy's. We embraced the window displays, Herald Square, glimpsed the nearby Empire State Building, and made our way to Times Square.

Times Square & Off Broadway Show. It was a little chilly! From there we walked to 46th Street to see Sistas - The Musical at St.Luke's Theatre. We did the ferry bus' scenic route back to the pier, crossed the river and dined at Ruth Chris.

Broadway, Radio City Music Hall & Rockefeller Center. We strolled Broadway and on to Radio City Music Hall for the awesome Christmas Show which also depicted the birth of Jesus Christ; with live animals. At Rockefeller Center, the Christmas tree and ice skaters. Roasted chestnuts, shopping, Restaurant Row for dinner . . . .

Subway to 135th, Mother AME Zion Church, Jazz Vespers. We rode the iron horse to Harlem for the church's Jazz Vespers concert. We met the pastor and visited the crypt of Bishop James Varick, the first ordained Bishop of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, the Freedom Church -- the membership church of Harriet Tubman, and the worship home for Frederick Douglass and Sojourner Truth.

Depart for Israel. After our very short visit we departed from the Newark airport for an overnight fight to the Holy Land.
