Memorial Day 2021

Updated: 2 days ago

Would you like to celebrate Memorial Day 2021 Southern Caribbean Style, May 30 Jun 6, 2021! Well the ship departs San Juan, Puerto Rico to St. Thomas, St. Maarten, St. Kitts, St. Lucia, and Barbados. There is a stateroom waiting for you!

This post covers the Carnival Fascination and the ports of call. Do not just cruise from San Juan, stay and see the island via a pre-stay. It is highly recommended to arrive at least one day before to avoid potential flight delays.

Now, take a panoramic view of the Carnival Fascination where you will enter a world of total inspiration, glitz and stardom. Onboard fun and amenities – musical enter-tainment, live comedy, cocktails, beer, wine, dining, etc. Have access to the resort pool, an adult only retreat, mini-golf, splashy Carnival WaterWorks, supervised youth programs, and more. This is the only cruise that takes you to this many amazing Southern Caribbean islands this time of year.

San Juan, Puerto Rico. Preview our Puerto Rico: Heart & Soul blog for the many adventures that await – activities, food, drinks, and music! Do not forget the pina colada and the 70+ rums. Do a pre-stay and get to know the island.

Do not miss this foodie paradise!. Feast on Puerto Rico's cuisine and quench your thirst with the national drink, a pina colada! The pina colada was created in Puerto Rico and is made with local rum. Remember you are in the Rum Capital of the world!

St. Thomas. The innate beauty of St. Thomas will leave you breathless! Take the island tour -- beaches, island views, historical locations, with an ultimate shopping experience. Views of Charlotte Amalie Harbour, the Caribbean Sea, etc. At the highest peak, Mountain Top, see Atlantic coast views of small islands, Magen's Bay, etc. Whatever you do not let the pirates make you walk the plank!

St. Maarten. Why cruise to St. Maarten and not see the sights, island highlights and shopping at Philipsburg beach. Ride the Sky Explorer for a 360-degree view and see neighboring islands . . . . You will definitely want to visit both side of the city, French and Dutch. Be a free spirit and explore!

St. Kitts. Discover the beauty of St Kitts. Visit the lowland valley area which was once occupied by the French, Basseterre. View historical attractions, the Palm Court Gardens and a must see UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park. You will be in awe at Timothy Hill, known as the island's most popular photo stop. Whatever you do, have fun! Do as much or as little as you want!

St. Lucia. Be wowed with unforgettable island experiences! Panoramic views of Castries and surrounding areas. Bypass old military barracks, war cemetery, gun powder battery, etc. Observe local sculptors creating sculptures from local woods.

If you get a chance visit the Roseau Valley Banana Plantation--the largest one in St. Lucia. Learn about the cultivation and production of bananas and do a tasting. The majestic Piton Mountains, St. Lucia’s most famous landmark, have been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Do not forget to purchase souvenirs. St. Lucia is an awesome destination and you may wish to consider returning for a full vacation.

Barbados. Okay, enough is enough! No you cannot stay in Barbados! You must return home! You fell in love with the pottery, fine art, lush countryside, the Parliament Buildings, the rum, the atmosphere, the food, etc. If your throat a little parched, then make your way to the Foursquare Rum Distillery. This distillery continues the 350 year old Barbadian tradition of rum making. Homework Assignment: Learn the history, production of rum and sample these exceptionally fine products. Hint! Take some bubble wrap for packing bottles in your suitcase.

Tour the island, see the most photographed spot and the surfing capital of the world -- The Soup at Bathsheba. Do not forego Martin’s Bay fishing village -- enjoy fish cake, banana bread and a beverage. There is much to see and Barbados is a great for a return visit. I cannot tell it all because some things are best to be experienced on your own. Enjoy the island of Barbados before returning to the ship.

A Day at Sea. After such awesome ports of call there's one more day before disem-barking. Please do not overdo the Sea Day Brunch! All the walking during the past week, a little indulgence should not hurt. You never know what may be on the menu.
